Houstonist Cooks: End of Summer Margarita

Yes, we know the end of summer in Houston isn't technically until some time in October. And yes, technically we aren't cooking anything in this recipe. Never mind all that. You're probably wondering why we stopped at Kobain during the "Great Margarita Search of 2008," seeing as how the bar snuggled in the revitalized area off of Washington is not a Mexican restaurant. Well, as you may be aware we ran into a bit of a problem several weeks back, which resulted in an evening of "delightful" conversation at Kobain. Rather than gulping down whatever beer was on tap, we decided to be adventurous and ordered a margarita. The reason? This chest is about as lacking as Keira Knightley's.

Upon our arrival, we were delighted by this recommendation, as the patio was packed with people, save for one corner cabana which had been saved for our party. Bring on the 'ritas!

For those of you that have been following along, we encourage you to try out the previously reviewed restaurants yourself and to leave feedback / commentary at the end of each editorial. Alright, that's enough with the pleasantries, let's just dive right in to our review of El Patio.

After a brief hiatus to undergo a lengthy bout of detox due to excessive margarita consumption, we’re back and better than ever! The next stop on the road to unearth Houston’s best margarita was Canyon Café, positioned in a strip mall near the corner of Post Oak Lane and Westheimer.

Our ceaseless pursuit continued last night with an evening at Armando's, located at the corner of Westheimer and Kirby.

The quest for Houston’s best margarita continued forward last night with a stop at Picos Mex Mex, situated at the corner of Bellaire and Renwick.

You can submit your analysis to us here! Happy drinking!

We don't know about you, but when we have out-of-state guests crash on our couch, two primary questions are always posed to us. Those being: "Where do you store the extra toilet paper?" and "Where can I get the best margarita in Houston?"
