We’ve got a busy week on the concert front. Our favorite duo from New York arrives at The Meridian tomorrow night. They Might Be Giants have been making quirky alt/pop songs for grown-ups over 20 years now, and a few albums for the kids that us grown-ups enjoy, too. Wilco’s Friday night show at Verizon Wireless Theater is sold out, but if you’re willing to pay a little, you can still get your hands on some tickets (believe us, it’s worth it). Finally, a great double-bill Monday night with Yo La Tengo opening for My Morning Jacket, also at Verizon. We're in concert heaven!

Some newer acts include Australia’s Liam Finn, the New York experimental band Yeasayer, Texas indie-rock band This Will Destroy You, U.K.’s Lightspeed Champion, Atlanta female singer/songwriter Kaki King.

As a bonus, the article has lots of interesting political commentary. If you watched the hearings you might have noticed that the Dems seemed to think Clemens was lying, while the Republicans seemed to favor his version of events.

Houstonist was meandering the Park Shops at 1200 McKinney for lunch a couple weeks ago and noticed that the Dumpling Nazi's (Doozo) former "home" is now a Zig's New York Deli. What? When? So, we immediately queued up for a reuben (one of our favorite sandwiches) the line actually moves a touch faster than the one at Doozo, as you are handed a menu while in line and your order punched into a pda-type device. While your credit card is being swiped, a guy is slicing the meat for your tasty sandwich. The Reuben has meat choices, we happen to love corned beef or pastrami. We have had both of them, we are ashamed to say. And, you did read us right - the meat is sliced to order, not in some plastic bin, under plastic wrap, trying not to dry out until you "pick your poison".

Many people love The Bravery, and why not? Their blend of rock, pop, electronic and retro style new wave keeps you on your feet. But don't count Brandon Flowers of The Killers as a fan. When The Bravery released their debut album a few years ago, Brandon claimed that the New York City based band was capitalizing on The Killers sound. Hmm ... I think there are some 80's bands that may say the same about you, Brandon. (We're not complaining, we like them both.)

The Houston Rockets are seemingly transitioning into the New York Giants of the National Basketball Association. No, they haven't just won a championship. No, they haven't defeated arguably the best team in league history. No, they haven't snapped an opponent's 18-game winning streak. OK, so maybe they're nothing like the NFL's Super Bowl winner.

It's a struggle not to talk about how awesome the Super Bowl was last night, but since we're here to talk about Houston teams first and foremost, we'll have to stick to our mission. But how 'bout those commercials, huh? We went and looked at the GoDaddy.com Danica Patrick one online; who knew that she could put both legs behind her head while playing "Smoke On The Water" on kazoo?

Sick of re-warming the soy milk for that pretentious jerk’s soy latte? Is your work place just like “The Office,” but without actually being ironically entertaining? Need to get out of your parents’ garage apartment? Well, we’ve got just the resume boost for all of you.

We usually run this column on Mondays, but the Clemens press conference inspired us to be petulant and storm out of things, so we walked away from our keyboard in a huff, drove back to our mansion in Memorial, and injected our kids whose names all begin with K's with horse steroids.
