Protest over national vs. regional chains, the never-ending debate over the place of cars and bicycles in our metropolises, professional sports scandals, remembering a solemn day, and being issued a search warrant - it all happened across our sites this week! It looks like it was constructed (or renovated) recently and yet it sits there half-finished with broken glass. — Chris Chris, the building you're wondering about is the old Tennison Hotel at the corner of Bagby and Franklin, and you're right: It was renovated in the last few years,...
We thought we'd take a stroll by Minute Maid Park to see what was going on at the site of the former William Penn Hotel, located at the corner of La Branch St. and Texas Ave. With the past exploits of Spire Realty, who chose to demolish the hotel one year ago, we were sure that perhaps something interesting was in the works. A couple of Houston men found that out the hard way Tuesday afternoon when they were on their way into the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station in Shippingport, Penn., to pick up a tool container. Security guards did a routine search of their truck and found a duffel bag, which they opened and found the half-mil in $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills.
proud, the wrecking ball almost immediately moved in on the old William Penn Hotel at 1423 Texas Ave. Take that, preservation!
