The Astros defeated the Dodgers in LA last night, but the big story was in how the game ended. The Dodgers were rallying in the 9th against the Astros bullpen (imagine that), and Dodger pinch hitter Mark Sweeney had just driven in a run to bring the score to 7-4, Astros. Brad Lidge is summoned from the bullpen and strikes out Rafael Furcal, and that's when things got weird. MLB.com doesn't allow us to imbed...

We're not sure if this goes under "dumb criminals" or "inventive ways to avoid shopping at Toys R Us", but either way KHOU is reporting that someone burglarized the toy machine at the Global Washeteria in the wee hours of this morning, around 2:55 AM. A witness noticed the male suspect walk across the street from an adjacent apartment compex to the Washeteria, where he broke the window and scaled burglar bars to get inside. He then "ripped open" a claw-machine game, took a teddy bear, and ran back across the street.

If there's one thing Houstonist enjoys, it's checking up on the weather online. We can hardly remember what life was like before the Internet, when you used to have to to see what it was like outside. Barbaric.

While eating a Philly cheesesteak with friends last week, we noticed a little girl in a dress leaning over the hood of a car down the way from us. At first, we didn’t give it much thought – we figured she must have been upset, scolded or even playing hide and seek. Ten minutes later, we noticed that she hadn’t moved a bit: that’s when we realized it was a doll (those legs looked so real!). Yes, we were fooled.
