Power is currently out at the intersection of Westheimer and Montrose, causing long delays at the lights since people can't seem to figure out how to take turns in a counter-clockwise fashion. (Houstonist traffic tip: the person to the right always goes first.) The outage is affecting restaurants and other businesses on all four corners, thwarting our attempts to get a Greek salad for lunch at either Biba's or Niko Niko's. Twitter user @Cortney just reported an outage at the Montrose/Fairview intersection as well as Inversion Coffee House just north of Fairview. Crews were on the scene at Westheimer. Meanwhile, other Montrose residents are reporting water outages due to city maintenance.

We're not sure whether it was something in the air or what, but something seems to have made Houstonians decide to crash into each other (and, in a couple of cases, walls) on area roads last night. First there was the guy who backed through a wall of the Houston House parking garage — we already talked about that — and then, around 8 p.m., a driver crashed into an Indian restaurant at Dairy Ashford...
So, you might have heard about this already, but the story is too good to pass up: There was a power outage in the north end of downtown early Thursday morning, and it was caused by a raccoon trying to raid a bird nest. It happened around 12:30 a.m. at CenterPoint Energy's Gable Street substation in the 500 block of McKee when the unfortunate raccoon got electrocuted, plunging more than 1,500 customers north of Congress Avenue into darkness, including UH-Downtown, the main post office and the city and county jails.

All tickets and parking passes for last night's game will be accepted for tonight. Unfortunatley, no refunds will be given due to the fact the...

Metro finally figured out what caused a power outage that shut down the MetroRail line Wednesday: a rat(s). No, we're not kidding. A rat or rats had crawled beneath a pole connected to an underground cable box near the Rice University platform and begun chewing on the casing surrounding an electric cable. Power had been shut off for maintenance Tuesday. When the system powered up at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feeley said, the exposed cable came...
