So, normally here at Houstonist, we try to promote events--arts and otherwise--that are open and (ahem) FREE to the public. Every now and again, though, something costing cash-o-la is so cool, so fun, SO important, that we simply MUST promote it. In this case, well, there's a lot of cash-o-la involved. But it's for such a good cause!!! We are not necessarily flush with cash today...or, well, any other day. But YOU, dear Houstonist...

::DiverseWorks Unveils This Old House:: Busy getting that Halloween costume together tonight? Well, take a break from the hot glue gun long enough to stop by DiverseWorks for tonight's unveiling of This Old House. The sculpture will...

This billboard is aptly named "Not All Clouds Are" and was created by artist J. Antonio Farfan. Originally from Mexico, Farfan is a University of Houston graduate and has expressed his concern about...

If you've ever wondered what you could do to really make a lasting impression on Houston, have we got a deal for you: For $1,500, your name could be inscribed on the sidewalk alongside the soon-to-be-spiffy Kirby Drive. The sale of the 18-by-18-inch pavers will help fund the Kirby Coalition and Upper Kirby District's upgrade project for the street, which is being (or is planned to be, anyway) carried out at the same time as...

Houston’s old artist friend David Adickes is shifting his focus from painting back to the monumental sculpture that he’s known for. Even if you’re unacquainted with Adickes and his neartown studio littered with giant busts of all forty-three presidents, you’d surely recognize the gigantic Sam Houston statue, his most famous work as well as our favorite part of making the trip to Dallas. Adickes has decided to take his work in a new direction though....
