Shoot, you didn't think we would leave you in the lurch again, did you? Houstonist has been trolling those interwebs, finding the snippets of Houston music news. We realized that last week we hadn't quite caught up on all of our rap/hip-hop feeds, so there's so fresh but not too fresh material in here as well. Enjoy!
We're getting old, we just can't hang like we used to. Shows that start at 10 PM on a week night? Unthinkable, unless it's on the magnitude of Johnny Cash rising from the dead for one last performance. The kind folks at Rudyard's feel our pain, and tonight will kick off their Monthly Happy Hour Show. The first Thursday of every month, Rudz will feature a couple of acts starting at 6 PM. They promise to end by 8:30 so we can get our tired old butts to bed at a reasonable hour. The Happy Hour starts at 5:30 with drink specials and a $5 taco bar. Should you need further justification, the proceeds from the $5 cover go to a local charity.
Catch a show tonight at Rudyard's and you'll be supporting both a local musician and independent music in throughout Texas.
Dailyist is a bit late today, but it's been a busy morning so we hope you don't mind, especially since Houstonist again has two awesome events for your enjoyment this evening.

Singer and mastermind Gregg Kostelich (who also owns Get Hip Records) has kept the band together through personnel changes, the coming and going of grunge music and whatever else a quarter-century of touring might throw at a band.
When it comes to music in Texas, we all know that Austin pretty much has the scene in an awkward and uncomfortable chokehold position. Between South by Southwest, ACL and Fun Fun Fun fests, the state capital has music festivals down to a science. But instead of making that trek up 290 and finding the perfect seat between the broseph who can't stop talking about how cool it would be if DMB was on...
