The St. Patrick's Day Parade is this Saturday, Noonish. Fun, free family entertainment and a tribute to our Irish community. Also, it takes between 40 and 60 volunteers to roll this bad boy, so, if you have some time to spare and enjoy having fun and perhaps imbibing whence the work is done with some great folks, please show up at Home Plate Bar & Grill at 9:00 a.m., or click this here e-mail link to submit yourself online. Otherwise, load up, bring the kids and enjoy the fun. The parade will start at noon and should last for about two hours. There should be approximately 150 entries in this years parade!

Houston, whether you're really Irish or want to celebrate and support the Irish in our community, you can be a part of the 51st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade! Whether you build a float, decorate your vehicle or gather a gaggle of friends to walk along the route you should come out and participate (you may even end up on the TV by way of one of our local news programs). Don't dream it, BE it! This year's parade will be held March 13th and begins at Noon at Minute Maid Park. The parade itself is free to attend and lasts approximately two hours. We'll give you more information about the parade itself in the coming weeks, including its history. For now, here's a schedule of entry costs, you need to send your entry in, and pronto:
Houston should have a nice, partly sunny day tomorrow. Mother Nature's timing could not be any better, as it clears up for the 3rd Annual Rory Miggins Memorial Irish Stew Cook-off, located this year at the Continental Club. The festivities will commence at 3700 Main Street at high noon straight up 1:00 p.m., with entertainment both inside and outside until 6:00 p.m. Admission to this fine event, for a finer cause, is only $10 and includes live music, Irish dancing, great food, a Guinness Beer Relay and more (like raffles, which means prizes). Not only is the admission a bargain, this is a wonderful afternoon activity, well, gaggle of activities, conveniently located. Your price of admission helps fund the St. Patrick's Day Parade and honors a great local Irish-American, Rory Miggins.
