It's taken Houstonist a while to process this past weekend, with it's massive amount of, well, everything - music, food, camaraderie, people - overwhelming Eleanor Tinsley Park. We had no shortage of a good time, rain notwithstanding, and wound up leaving incredibly proud of Free Press, Pegstar, our local bands, and the good people of Houston in general.
Near the close of last year's festival, while we were privileged enough to snap a few photos from the stage during Explosions in the Sky's set, we happened to look out at the sea of people that had overtaken the hill, and had we been bitter souls our heart may have grown the proverbial three sizes. As it was, it just happened to swell with pride at just what the city had accomplished, and an eager anticipation of what was to come in the following iterations.

Days later, this weekend's Free Press Summer Fest is still the talk of the town - and rightfully so. It was a weekend packed with expectation and anticipation as well as music, heat, humidity, excitement, and whatnot. Everybody's doing it, so here's the Houstonist take on our weekend.
