Well, it was fun while it lasted. The Rockets, riding high on a 12 game winning streak going into tonight's game against the Wizards, will be without star Yao Ming for the rest of the season after Yao was diagnosed today with a stress fracture in his left foot. The team's medical staf will speak to the press later today, but the word from the nearly-infallible Chris Berman at Fox26 is that Yao will have surgery on the foot and won't play again this year. more ›

Many artists make a living on the road, but few have been able to do it as successfully, and consistently, as Garrett Dutton. The Philadelphia native and his band, better known as G. Love & Special Sauce, have been churning out albums and have been known for their fantastic live shows for a decade and a half now. Their unique blend of rock, hip-hop, and blues, among other ingredients, has made them a crowd favorite. However, they’ve never captured the more mainstream success like their friend Jack Johnson, who made one of his first appearances on a G. Love album in the late 90’s. more ›

Many people love The Bravery, and why not? Their blend of rock, pop, electronic and retro style new wave keeps you on your feet. But don't count Brandon Flowers of The Killers as a fan. I think there are some 80's bands that may say the same about you, Brandon. (We're not complaining, we like them both.) more ›

The Red Sox has permeated nearly every facet of Bostonist's lives. When they're not live-blogging the games, waxing poetic about the games, thanking Curt Schilling for his splendid work, or telling Dane Cook to watch his hair, they're watching certain presidential candidates hop on the Red Sox bandwagon (sorry, Gothamist). The Sox are so branded on the local brain that people are using the Series to spice up their sex lives. Speaking of spice, Bostonist... more ›

What might be the world's shortest police chase ended tragically early Wednesday when a couple of suspects crashed an allegedly stolen van, killing one of them and critically injuring the other. It started around 3 a.m. Wednesday when someone in an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Fondren reported that a Dodge Caravan was being stolen; a police patrolman spotted the van leaving the complex and tried to pull the driver over — but instead of pulling over, the driver sped up. "The second that driver spotted the officer is when the pursuit started," HPD spokesman Officer Gabe Ortiz told the Chronicle. more ›

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from flickr user and Houstonist photo contributor slipshod snapshots. Infernal Bridegroom Productions ceased operations on July 24, 2007 In the arts, the word “alternative” has been thoroughly recast as a marketing tool in an effort to resolve two incongruent sensibilities: the desire to be different and the fear of standing alone. Infernal Bridegroom Productions is…alas…was old school “alternative”. IBP confidently stood alone in bringing to stage productions that... more ›
