The FBI is looking for help catching a Beau Brummelly robber who's believed to have knocked over four banks in Houston — all while wearing dazzlingly coordinated outfits. The man, who authorities call the "Dapper Bandit," robbed his first bank — a Washington Mutual branch in southwest Houston — on May 31. His M.O. is kind of unusual: He robs the banks in broad daylight, usually in grocery stores where there are plenty of people around, and he brings his own bag to carry the dough in. Washington Mutual announced Wednesday it's pulling out as the parade's sponsor, leaving the Houston Festival Foundation Inc., which produces the parade, to find another corporate buddy.
Don't forget on Turkey Day morning that the 56th Annual Washington Mutual Thanksgiving Day Parade will be rolling through downtown Houston. We at Houstonist love a good parade and, though ours may not be the biggest, we're one of the few parades in the country that can be enjoyed while wearing a t-shirt (the National Weather Service is calling for a temperature in the upper 70s in the afternoon. It should be in lower 60s when the parade starts with maybe a few clouds).
