Weylin Spradley, who's been in the news for pretending to be a cop, has been charged with another crime: A Baytown woman claims he tried to force her out of her apartment earlier this month. Police said Spradley went to an apartment on Feb. 13 at 5:45 a.m. and tried to convince the occupant that she had no right to live in the apartment. He was wearing a light blue uniform and a gun belt,...

Police have finally arrested the man they accuse of impersonating a cop — and they did it at the same bail bond agency he used to post bond Friday. Officers have been looking for Weylin Spradley for several weeks because they were concerned over his tendency to wear a police-style uniform and his car, a white Chevy Impala emblazoned with official-looking graphics for a fake security company. Spradley has a history of dressing up as a cop and even racked up a conviction for impersonating a public servant, but he told KPRC the fuzz has it all wrong:

When Houstonist was little, we'd sometimes pretend we were things we weren't — you know, an astronaut, the president, a race car driver, Dr. Quincy. But we never took it seriously (except for the Dr. Quincy part, but that's another story). Seems some people never really grow out of that phase, though, like Weylin Spradley, a 25-year-old Houstonian who is pretending to be a security officer. Not only does Spradley have a fake police-type uniform,...
